The Feast of Rutilio Grande, sj
Dear friends of El Salvador and Honduras,
In the face of the Caronavirus, El Salvador has declared a State of Emergency. Schools and Universities have been closed and gatherings of large numbers of people are prohibited, and a travel ban to nonresidents has been imposed at Salvadoran airports. Honduras has already reported a couple of cases of Coronavirus.
We all know that the Salvadoran and Honduran health systems are precarious at best, and ill-prepared for a pandemic of this magnitude.
SHARE works with a number of grassroots organizations including CRIPDES, PROVIDA, Radio Progreso who have appealed for help confronting the crisis.
Their priority: educating high risk communities about Coronavirus and critical steps they can take to protect themselves and their families.
Health promoters will be dispatched to educate community leaders on how to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus and what to do if they believe they have been exposed or infected by the virus. A variety of proven techniques will be employed, including national radio and social media education campaigns to reach their communities.
As budgets are already stretched, any amount of financial support you can contribute will be gratefully received. We appreciate your generosity and thank you for supporting us in this emergency
