We are fundraising to save lifes

Dear friends of the people of El Salvador and Honduras,

We write to express our profound gratitude for your generous solidarity! With your support we were able to deliver a lifeline to the victims of the Amanda storm and urgently needed aid to patients and families of Covid 19 in El Salvador and Honduras.

Thanks to you, the SHARE Foundation raised and delivered $31,000 to CRIPDES and Pro Vida in El Salvador and $33,400 to Paso a Paso, the Mercy Sisters, The Notre Dame Sisters, Radio Progreso/ERIC, El Foro de Mujeres and the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Common Health and Public Assets of Tocoa Colon in Honduras.

But the crisis continues. The impact of the pandemic this year has exposed the inadequacy of our systems, especially the healthcare system. El Salvador currently suffers one of the highest mortality rates in the world for healthcare providers and front line workers due to lack of adequate Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE). As of August 30th, 53 doctors and 153 health professionals have died in El Salvador.

In partnership with CARECEN LA, Centro Romero in Chicago, and Salvadoran committees in Washington DC, Virginia, Houston and the San Francisco Bay Area, the SHARE Foundation is working with Pro Vida in El Salvador to deliver PPE kits to doctors.

To date, we have received 26 requests from doctors who urgently need their PPE. For example Dr. Mario Andres Martinez of the Unidad de Salud Comunitaria of Salcoatitan in Sonsonate has written “we are risking our lives unnecessary for lack of PPE, please help us”

We invite you to support Dr. Martinez and many more like him with a PPE kit? The Kit includes face shields, masks, gloves, shoe covers, hands sanitizer and gowns for a cost of $100.

We thank you in advance for all your love and support. Together, we make such a difference in our world.

With great gratitude,

Jose Artiga,

Executive Director
