Dear Friends,
As we end the 44th anniversary of the SHARE Foundation’s founding, we thank you for being such an important part of our history accompanying the peoples of El Salvador and Honduras. It has been a labor of love, bending the arc toward justice and transforming many lives.
With your support, we have organized 10,130 delegates to visit and walk with El Salvador and Honduras communities. We have organized hundreds of campaigns in support of human and civil rights. We have raised and leveraged several million dollars to support the dreams of communities in search of a better world for their children. We are proud of this work in solidarity with the people.
In El Salvador, working with a network of allies, Tutela Legal(Maria Julia Hernandez) has submitted thousands of unanswered Habeas Corpus petitions to the courts on behalf of innocent citizens and community leaders, taking key cases up to the Inter-American Court on Human Rights. Tutela Legal MJH received the Letelier Moffitt Human Rights Award of IPS in Washington DC on October 12, 2023.
Also, we accompany the Socorro Jurídico Humanitario (SJH) has been publicizing and denouncing cases of human rights violations and illegal detentions committed by police, military, prosecutors, and court personnel. Illegal detentions, arbitrary executions, and other serious violations against the dignity of people have been verified. They give support to: 1. Technical advice and legal support to direct victims and/or their families; 2. Financial and food support to relatives of direct victims; 3. Needed health care, including facilitating medical exams and medical equipment and 4. Psychological care for direct victims and/or their relatives.
With your generous support, we will continue the successful scholarship program that strengthens the dreams of future community leaders and their families.
We accompany PROVIDA in El Salvador with their campaign to educate, prevent, and treat uterine and breast cancer for women in rural communities.
In Honduras, we accompany women and land and water defenders in their fight to defend the river, the forest, and the people. We are accompanying the family and community of assassinated water defender Juan Lopez and demand justice for Juan; as well as to remove the illegal concession of mining in National Park Carlos Escaleras.
Together, we defend the rights of immigrants in the US.
